Links

These are just a few sites that I have found useful when doing my research. If you know of any others or if you want me to link to your site let me know.

Most of these are UK based.

For all your needs on Cornwall

For a lot of interesting details about Brixham visit the Museum at www.brixhamheritage.org.uk

www.research-uk.com has a search engine on the front page that is the fastest I have ever known, apart from that there is also a whole lot of useful details here.

http://yard.ccta.gov.uk/cwgc/register.nsf is the home of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and is a really useful place to trace any relatives who may have died in action.

www.familysearch.org is a very good place to find international records as well as British ones. This is run by the Latter Day Saints in Utah and is sometimes too full to get into. Keep trying though because it's worth the effort.

One way to use the above site is by finding the batch number of the town in which you are looking and entering it. For a whole range of batch numbers the following site is recommended.

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Trail/8333/index4.html

www.rootsweb.com/~bwo/england.html is the English section of Rootsweb. Here there is a surname search function and masses more information. From here you can visit the international pages.

www.kindredkonnections.com contains a lot of useful details and an online 1871 census of Cornwall.

www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/8555/lookup.html this has to be the most useful site that I have found. It covers all England, together and in separate counties, and has a list of people willing to help by email. I have used it several times and always received a prompt reply.

www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng has the low-down on masses of things. The information is up to date and very helpful. It is easy to locate documents that contain facts about every region in the country.

www.pa-roots.com/england I can't remember what this site does but if I wrote it down it must be worth a visit!

www.surnameweb.org is a mainly U.S. concern but if your ancestors emigrated then it makes a good starting point.

www.worldgenweb.org is another U.S. site that is worth a look. This one has some good links.

If you know of any more really good sites just let me know and I'll add a link to them, after I've visited of course.
